Time Machines and Dissertations

December 8th is Pretend to be a Time Traveler Day. How much easier would the dissertation be if you had a time machine?…

Whenever you try something new for the first you can count on two things: 1) You’re not gonna get right the first time, and 2) It’s gonna take you a lot longer than you’d think.

To combat these problems, you have two choices. First, you could try and fail and try again, until you figure the whole thing out. At that point you could jump in a time machine to go back to the point when you first started and then get it right the first time. Brilliant!

Alternatively, you could enlist support from someone who’s been through the process before. Having guidance to help you avoid the pitfalls and roadblocks in the dissertation process is almost as good has having a time machine.

So on Pretend to be a Time Traveler Day, consider pretending to be a time traveler my leveraging someone else’s experience.
