Pigs in a Blanket and Dissertations

April 24th is National Pigs in a Blanket Day! For your dissertation party you want to bring the pigs in a blanket…

Having to write a dissertation is a bit like being asked to bring an appetizer to a party.

Oh no! I’m not good at this! How do I do this? When will I have time? What if I do it wrong?

For the party you need pigs in a blanket. For the dissertation you need a simple action plan.

But what ARE pigs in a blanket? For the uninitiated, we’re talking about a sausage of some kind wrapped in a bread of some kind, often served as an appetizer.

Forget about making something fancy that’ll take 20 or 30 steps. Pigs in a blanket are the ticket. You make them like this:

  1. Slice hot dogs into bite-sized chunks.
  2. Wrap crescent roll dough around each chunk.
  3. Bake.
  4. Eat.

Simple? Yes!

Easy? Yes!

And, if you ever want to graduate, you need a “pigs in a blanket” dissertation, too!

  • Design a simple study.
  • Collect data.
  • Analyze data.
  • Write.

This isn’t a cooking show, and you’re not trying to one-up the neighbors with some exotic fare. It doesn’t have to be fancy. It shouldn’t be fancy.

Just pick something simple and get it done. Those pigs in a blanket will be perfect for your graduation party.
