Groundhog Day and Dissertations

February 2nd is National Groundhog Day. Will Punxsutawney Phil see his shadow? Will the winter of your dissertation stretch on for another six weeks? It will if you don’t break out of your loop…

In the 1993 movie, Groundhog Day, Bill Murray’s on-location news reporter found himself stuck in a loop, repeating Groundhog Day over and over, again.

When you think about your experience with your dissertation, does this month feel like last month? Does this year feel like last year?

How long have you been in a loop?

Now’s the time to break out!

You can decide right now to do something different.

It can be a small change, like the time of day you work on your dissertation.

It could be something bigger, like changing your methodology or topic.

You could decide it’s time to walk away.

Or, you could decide that it’s time to get some help!

Whatever you decide, make the decision today to make the change you need to break out of your Groundhog Day loop!
